Today was about a nondescript a run as I get, but I’ll still try to descript it.
Always start your runs with your prep the night before. Cloths ready, keys, laces undone, basically fall into your run. Eliminate things to discourage you from getting out. One nice treat I get for running right after waking up is a bagel or English muffin with peanut butter before bed to top off your energy stores for your harder and longer workouts.
4:45am comes, slept amazingly well. A little voice in my head tries to tell me to keep sleeping, why ruin a good thing? The voice never wins, but is always there.
5:05- out the door, 40 degrees… Not too bad, after a mile it feels nice.
Today is one of the few days in the run cycle to let loose some speed, it is interval day. Just doing easy ones now. Hard to really pace up so quickly after waking up.
One thing was different today, everyone out was… Nicer. Usually the 5am runners will nod about half the time, best return rate out there. Today, almost everyone nodded or smiled. I think we all have Boston in our hearts and hit close to us as part of the running community.
Tomorrow, slow recovery run!
