Weekend Ramblings and Runs

Fast weekend recap!
Saturday: 10 miles. Easy pace, ~8:15s average. Ran part of it with Erin and her friend. I saw Mrs. Fueling Strong as I headed back. Couple photos from early on in the run:

I spent the rest of the day prepping for my tot's birthday party in the afternoon. My left hamstring was a bit tight in the afternoon, but after some stretching, it feels normal again. If you care to see some photos from the party, see here. The theme of the party - PLAY IN ALL THE SAND.

One small example:

This morning - Another 10 miles. The Hanson Plan has a long run every other weekend. Today's pace was supposed to be easy. (see 8+), but I ended up doing it around 7:30. My legs were pretty tired today, a bit abnormal for Sunday for me. I saw Fluency's Folly on my way down, who later apologized for not giving a side five. Apology accepted.

I think adding the hill work on Wednesday finally pushed me to the point where the plan caught up to my current ability and will be pushing harder from here on out.  I'll keep an eye on any aches to make sure I'm not overdoing it.

That's all I got! A bit tired today. Hope ya'll had a great weekend!

  1. I'm a bit tired today too. Whats your avg weekly mileage? Your tot is totes adorbs playing in the sand- so cute she smiles when she gets the sand in her face instead of wailing with tears (like so many others would have done hehe). Happy birthday Tot!!

  2. Average right now is 60 +/- a few! I think maybe a few more hours of sleep would help too!
Tot it totes! love it lol She was making sand angels, face planting in the sand. I think she ate more sand than dinner!
Thanks for commenting! Great job on your long run!

  3. I'd love to get to 60mpw, but need to ease into it (injury prone here)... You are nailing all your workouts & im really excited to see you smash the Chicago Marathon! Haha, i wonder what the nutritional value of sand is... :)

  4. Yeah, be sure to take it easy! It took me until probably week 14 or so before I ever felt that tired, but once it hit, it hit hard!!

  5. I feel like I am living vicariously through you since I am not running at all and we should have been doing the same training...well yours is a few minutes faster per mile than mine....but the same idea;). Makes me excited to get back out there eventually. Maybe a spring marathon to give the full Hanson training a try again. I am still doing the fall but a majority of the training will have been cross training so that may not go as I had hoped. Oh well- roll with it.
The tot looks like she had a ton of fun. Happy birthday to her and hope it was a great party.
