ABCs of Me (I caved)

No Run today, so you get a random post from me.

After yesterday's fiasco of a run, I felt really good afterwards. Probably just from ending up running few mile. I got to make sure to keep my pace tomorrow at marathon pace and not a strength run pace like I did last week. Trying to conserve a little bit of energy for the Rock and Roll half on Sunday. I'm not going to alter my week's training much (calls for 10 Saturday, and 8 Sunday, so I'll fix it to 8 Saturday and 13 Sunday).  Probably talk more about it later, but I plan on hanging out with the 1:30 pace group for about half the race and then decide if I want to go for broke for the other half or just chill.

Speaking of Sunday, my building posted this sign in our elevator yesterday:
Umm, so who wants to let me shower at their place after the race? I guess I'll hit up the showers by the beach, better pack my herbal essence.

Last week Anne @ Anne Really Blogs did me the favor or passed me the virus of tagging me to do the ABCs of me.. I feel slightly dirty doing this (TWSS!), but here goes:

A. Attached or Single?  Married since 2008 to Emma! (aka the boss!)

B. Best Friend? My wife is my best friend (Sorry Fabio , you don't text me enough). Now if you want a less obvious answer, you can put your name in runner up. You can buy my friendship with frozen custard and bad jokes.

C. Cake or pie?  I LOVE CAKE! Carrot Cake, Ice cream cake! cake cake.

D. Day of choice? Saturday! Day of the week we actually attempt to do social things! Although I love Sundays for the long run.

E. Essential Item? Love my timex ironman stopwatch. I stopped using my nicer watch at work and just wear it all the time. Great to have as a backup for runs too.

F. Favorite color? Purple!

G. Gummy bears or worms? Worms!
YOU SHUT YOUR MOUTH AND SAY BEARS

H. Home town? Jeez, at least take me out for a drink before stealing my identity.

I. Favorite Indulgence? Frozen Custard and a cupcake mixed in from Lickity Split!

J. January or July? JULY! Birthday month for my daughter and myself!

K. Kids? I have an amazing little lady! Hopefully more in the future.

L. Life isn’t complete without?

M. Marriage date? First day of summer!

N. Number of brothers/sisters? I have five half siblings. Crazy story here, but not for the blog. Schedule a run with me if you want to hear!

O. Oranges or Apples? Oranges! I like apples, but i get a slight itchy reaction in my mouth to non organic ones, which is a bummer

P. Phobias? Currently.. that anytime my shin hurts, I have a stress fracture, will not be able to run and gain like 30lbs

Q. Quotes? This changes too frequently to pick one.. We'll pick:

But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.

R. Reasons to smile? I still have the ability to, so I will.

S. Season of choice? Summer!

T. Tag 5 People
Five people?!! that's like 70% of my reader base. I'll do a bro-call so I'm not the only dude doing this

Adam @ Fat Barefoot Running Dad
Chris @ My Kind of Run
Eric @ This Hobbit Runs
Adam @ 5k Addict
and..Pete @ The Lakefront Trail

U. Unknown fact about me? To you guys? Everything is unknown! Here is a boring one,I played drums for like 10 years

V. Vegetable? Seriously? can I put it in a dip? or season it? I'm not that great with plain veggies...but I'll management most of them. (NOT MUSHROOMS!!!)

W. Worst habit? What, you haven't noticed already? I guess it isn't that bad

X. X-ray or Ultrasound? Ultrasounds are big for parents to be, so I'll pick that

Y. Your favorite food? Historically, BBQ. Right now, I really love me some food from Taste of Peru or the Out of this World Bread Pudding from M Henry's.

Z. Zodiac sign?Cancer

There, you happy now?

Plans for your day? Good luck to the runners racing tonight!

  1. Oh, you caved? :) I don't think anyone forced you!

Also, I like the all-dude tagging.

I think I might actually lose 30 pounds if I stopped running, but we must re-fuel differently afterward ;) Also, where do you like to go for good BBQ? There's so many good places in the city, I'm always curious.

  3. The bread pudding at M Henry's is amazing... BBQ isn't too bad either and perfect for summer!

I get the itchy feeling from apples too!

I ended up skipping my tempo today. It was 85 degrees at 5:15! Ugh. I ended up running Saturday's 10 so I'll prob do 11-12 on Saturday with some tempo miles thrown in. Good luck tomorrow in the heat!

  6. Organic apples are a bit easier to eat! But that gets pricey!

Not a bad mix around for the plan! Surviving is the goal until the weekend! I want a little redemption Friday after yesterday lol

We need a runner M Henry/Henrietta meet up!

  7. Oh, speaking of M. Henry, have you ever been to Marmalade on Montrose/Damen? The menu was created by a former M. Henry chef, and it's all really yummy.

Where have you gone for BBQ? I like Smokedaddy, of course, but it's tiny and always has a wait. Big Bricks on Lincoln is really really good, and they deliver :) Still need to try Smoque on Irving, but I've heard good things.

Way to pull an Equilibrium reference into this. It may be a Yeats quote, but i always hear Sean Bean reading it. ;-) "A heavy cost. I pay it gladly."

  12. Love the photo of your little one! She is adorable beyond words. Glad I'm not the only one who's pretty obsessed with cake...like I seriously cannot turn down a piece. Which is probably why I train for marathons. :)

  13. So, I'm intrigued by this "Fat Barefoot Running Dad" character, but the website's giving me a "can't find the server message." I even went so far as to search the man, to no avail! Strange.

I AM happy now. Thanks for sharing!
