One for my wife and one for me |
Last night we went to That Little Mexican Cafe in Edgewater to meet up with some friends of the family. I decided to take a selfie of the toddler (front facing camera, excuse the quality) on my back!
CHEESE! See my toys?! |
I ate their Chorizo Burrito, which tasted fine, but didn't fill me up at all. So we went to Lickity Split afterwards and it was amazeballs as usual!
I got up this morning for a 7 mile easy/recovery run. My stomach apparently wasn't recovered... Yada yada, runners you know what must be done before any run, I thought I was good to go... not so much, the majority of my run was spent fighting a sour stomach. If it wasn't for the burrito issues, it was a great run. I'm seeing more small groups of runners, which I imagine are pace groups for some run clubs, and the Elijah running group was out in force as usual.
Mr V was out on his bike and gave his usual inspirational hello, but the best one goes to this old man who was 65+ and was ecstatic to wave hello and say good morning.
I used my New Balance M890v2s that I am phasing out to retirement, and I can feel the difference from my newer M890v3 that I'm breaking in, I miss that cushioning!
My wife is trying to make a Vlog of our day, so be on the look out for that later on my blog.
We went out to get a Dirty Horchata ice coffee from Metropolis Coffee, I like it, my wife not so much, so I got them both :) Also, we picked up a doughnut (which they carry Bennison's Bakery donuts) since we didn't celebrate yesterday.
We went to the park after to let our tot run around and she also had a piece of the doughnut!
May I have a piece mom? |
And the last photo for the afternoon, a view of the city and the standing paddle boarders thingies that +Emily Seto and others are going to in July!
This afternoon we are planning on going to Midsommarfest in Andersonville! Will I see any of you there?
Are you going to any festivals this weekend or runs?
I like tacos the night before a run, but chorizo does sound a little rough. So spicy!
ReplyDeleteMidsommarfest is fun! I went to it while I still lived in the area. I think we're going to check out Rib Fest in Northcenter tonight, since it's a festival built around meat, beer and music. How could it be bad?
I didn't know edgewater has Mexican restaurants! We're in the heard of Mexican and Peurto Rican restaurants here - unfortunately my balance doesn't allow me to eat much more of their food than carne asada. Oh well, one day!
ReplyDeleteWow, sprinkled doughnuts are one treat I can never refuse. So bad, yet so good. We celebrated national doughnut day as well yesterday and I felt horribly bloated afterward (I couldn't imagine what a burrito would make one feel like, as I don't eat them :P); a run usually helps immensely.
ReplyDeleteWheh! Midsommarfest tired me out, mostly from lugging my little ham on my back, wore out my calves!

Hah! Edgewater is pretty big, encompasses Andersonville. There are probably ~20 Mexican places, my favorite is still La Cuidad in Uptown.Edgewater has lots of Ethiopian places. Have you stopped by Taste of Peru? I'll talk food all day!
ReplyDeleteWoah! Both Conollys commenting!
ReplyDeleteI think I need to head up to Evanston and go to their bakery again real soon!
Its always funky when you are eating healthy, then eat something kinda crappy and your body tells you asap. You think back to when that was normal and your body gave up fighting it!

It's a bummer that your waitress gave you so much attitude. I would think that she would trust you as a parent to know what your child can and can't handle in terms of silverware. Very weird. My stomach is often upset on my runs when I have Mexican the night before, too. But, I love Mexican food so much that I'm willing to deal with the consequences. :)
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of a time my friend had to leave work because her Chipotle burrito made her too full! Burritos can be so deadly sometimes.
ReplyDeletehaha yes, sometimes you have to grin and bear it...or run with it!

Yikes! They need to make a race friendly burrito!
ReplyDeleteI think we have been to the taste of Peru - nut sure when.
ReplyDeleteAfter this weekend, we've learned we probably shouldn't go to restaurants any more for the time being. The twins have reached a milestone or something, and see restaurant time as screaming meltdown time now.
YIKES! no good. The fun stage is when they chew EVERYTHING, like the tables at the restaurant!
ReplyDeleteI hope the twins move on soon to at least let you get out to get a coffee or tea or something.
Yeah, and beyond the chewing, its the insane tantrum if there is a sense of being restrained. Its "let me wander the restaurant or the world will know how upset I am". Eh, oh well.
ReplyDeleteUgh! I hate it when my body decides to punish me for what I ate before my run... although I guess I deserve it.
ReplyDeleteLame that the food was mediocre, overpriced and the waitress tried to parent your daughter!
